What?! A Clinical Aromatherapist saying I should use essential oil LESS?
Yes, that’s exactly what I am saying and let me tell you why. Then I will help you transition your use so that you are using them properly and safely. You don’t need a lot to pack a punch!
- Less is more with essential oils – Essential oils are concentrated volatile oils. This means they can (and will) cause risk- both immediate and long term- if you are not diluting them with care. See below for general* charts.
- Plants are Endangered – Many essential oils come from plants that are at risk of becoming endangered or are already endangered. The process itself also draws on using lots of resources such as water and massive amounts of plant matter that is going to be thrown out after the process. I’m guessing you got into aromatherapy because you were looking for something natural and you care about the Earth. If you do, then pay attention to this.
- You will save money – Large essential oil companies are there to make money. They are going to “educate” you unwisely. The more you use, the more you have to buy, the more money they make. As simple as that. If a company cared about you, they would be telling you when you shouldn’t use them too and listing the many safety rules in using them.
